Tom Cruise: I don't believe in psychiatry

Tom Cruise: I don't believe in psychiatry

In a new interview with Parade magazine, Tom Cruise reiterated his long-held belief that psychiatry is a "pseudoscience."

"I don't believe in psychiatry," Cruise told the magazine. "It's a pseudoscience and it's harmful."

Cruise has been outspoken about his views on psychiatry for many years. In a 2005 interview with Matt Lauer on the "Today" show, Cruise attacked psychiatric medication, calling it a "chemical lobotomy."

Many experts disagree with Cruise's assessment of psychiatry. The American Psychiatric Association has stated that "psychiatry is one of the most thoroughly researched and scientifically validated medical specialties."

Despite his negative views on psychiatry, Cruise says he is grateful for the help he has received from mental health professionals in the past.

"I've worked with people in psychiatry and I'm grateful for the help I've received," said Cruise. "But I don't agree with their theories."

Tom Cruise: I'm not a scientologist

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Cruise has denied that he is a Scientologist. "I'm not a Scientologist," Cruise said. "I've never been a Scientologist."

The interview was conducted in light of the release of his latest movie, Mission: Impossible - Fallout. In it, Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt, the leader of an elite team of secret agents known as the Impossible Mission Force (IMF).

Asked about his long-standing affiliation with the Church of Scientology, Cruise replied that he is "not part of this religion" and that he's "just somebody who believes in this religion."

Cruise has been involved with Scientology since 1986, when he was introduced to the church by his then-wife, actress Mimi Rogers. He has since become one of the church's most high-profile members, and has been criticized for his outspoken support of Scientology.

In 2013, documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney released a film called Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, which accused the church of being a dangerous cult that exploits its members. Cruise was featured prominently in the film, and was accused of being a "zealot" and "apologist" for Scientology.

In response to these allegations, Cruise has repeatedly defended Scientology, calling it "one of the most important things I have done in my life." He also denies that the church is a cult. "That's just absurd," he said in 2015.

Despite his defense of Scientology, Cruise insists that he is not a member of the church. "I am not a Scientologist," he said in 2018. "I practice auditing, and I believe in it."

Tom Cruise is a dad again

Tom Cruise and his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, became parents for the first time on Wednesday when their daughter was born in Los Angeles.

The couple's publicist, Pat Kingsley, said in a statement that "Simone Alexandra Cruise was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at 7:52 a.m. PT."

She added that both mother and baby were doing well.

Kidman, 37, and Cruise, 41, married in December 1990 after meeting on the set of the movie "Days of Thunder."

They announced they were expecting a child in January.

Tom Cruise sued for libel by Brooke Shields

Actor Tom Cruise has been sued for libel by fellow actor Brooke Shields. Shields alleges that Cruise made false and defamatory statements about her in multiple interviews in which he criticized her use of prescription medication to treat postpartum depression.

"Tom Cruise is a moron," said Shields in one interview. "He knows nothing about the realities of postpartum depression."

In another interview, Cruise was quoted as saying, "I'm just saying she shouldn't have taken anti-depressants while pregnant. I'm not attacking Brooke Shields. But you know, medications can sometimes be dangerous."

Shields' lawsuit contends that Cruise's statements are not only untrue, but also harmful to her reputation and career. She is seeking unspecified damages in the suit.

Tom Cruise to star in new action movie

Tom Cruise is set to star in a new action movie for Paramount Pictures. The film will be directed by Doug Liman, who previously worked with the actor on the hit movie "Edge of Tomorrow".

The untitled project is said to be a high-octane, globe-trotting thriller in the vein of "Mission: Impossible" and "Jack Reacher". Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the film is expected to start shooting in early 2017.

Cruise has had a busy year so far, with two new releases - "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" and "The Mummy" - both box office successes. He is also currently filming "Top Gun 2".

This new Paramount Pictures movie will be another great addition to his impressive resume. We can't wait to see what he brings to the big screen next!
